USQ Announces New Executive Director
Back in April, it was announced that US Quidditch (USQ) was on the hunt for a new Executive Director. Sarah Woosley was brought on as the interim Director, and USQ announced yesterday that she will be hired permanently after a nationwide search and extensive evaluation process.
I fell in love with [Q]uidditch the first day I played it in early 2010, and I’m thrilled to be able to lead as we enter its second decade. To me, [Q]uidditch is incredible for so many reasons – it is a welcoming, progressive, inclusive, and engaging sport. There is an opportunity for anyone and everyone to participate in the community, whether as a player, a spectator, or a volunteer.
She began her experience with USQ in 2011 as a Gamplay Coordinator, which led to her role as Events Director, where she oversaw, among other events, nearly two dozen regional championships and the past three World Cups/US Quidditch Cups.
As the Executive Director, Woosley will be working alongside the other staff of the USQ to further the progress of the strategic plan. She states,
As we enter year two of our strategic plan and the 11th year of our sport, we’ll strengthen our existing resources while continuing to develop new programs and policies. In particular I’ll be focusing on our fundraising efforts and operational management.
Woosley is set to begin her permanent position on Monday, and USQ’s board has expressed excitement for her work.
[Woosley] has proven experience managing staff and working closely with the USQ Board to make advances toward reaching our organizational goals. We are looking forward to collaborating with Sarah as we focus on our strategic plan, and we will continue to work to both expand [Q]uidditch and improve the USQ experience for players and teams.
SnitchCenter would like to congratulate Sarah Woosley on her appointment as well as wish her good luck in her future with the organization!
