Expedition Wandless: Day 9
Adalina Mancer here, happy to report that we have had our first team cross the finish line. Team Japan has made it to Caipora Stadium.
When they made it to to the city, the teammates stopped to take in the sights around them. Team Japan decided to snap a beautiful picture of the busy streets in Rio de Janeiro on their way to the stadium, posting it on Instagram, earning themselves another 5 points. A 2-point bonus from Judge Jenkins, for including our lovely host city in the competition.
They caught a Pokémon right outside the Stadium doors, gaining another 5 points. Rio seems to be rampant with Pokémon, because when I spoke with Team Japan, they were heading back out into the city to catch as many as they could. Crossing the finish line first has given them 37 points. We will find out their total on the final day after the last team has crossed the finish line.
In other news, Switzerland managed to successfully call an Uber to pick them up and take them to Rio. However, as soon as the car pulled up, the team from the United Kingdom hopped in from the other side, locked the doors, and took off in the car, leaving Switzerland in the dust. Technically, the Swiss team called the Uber (which was the task), so the points go to the Swiss, who have apparently decided to make the trek on foot. No points for the UK on that one.
Despite their Uber thievery, Team UK also racked up some points today after calling their families at home. They attracted some strange stares from Muggles since there were three people standing in a circle screaming at a phone in pleasant tones. Those Muggles will certainly have a story to tell their families when they get home. Team UK is also on the board with 5 points.
The Canadian team seems to still be in the forest. Well, they couldn’t have wandered that far. Join me again on August 16 for our next round of updates! Miss a day? Find the updates here! Make sure to keep up with the rest of the Wizolympics, too!!
Jeez Louise, I keep forgetting the Squib Games!! Drama is begging to start in the Bin It to Win It competition. Junix Jinkser of the Philippines is working quickly, spending a lot of energy out in the hot Rio de Janeiro sun. Hopefully, our Medical Team is providing plenty of water!
Oh! Finally!! Something interesting is happening! It seems that Ira Tater and Wizards for the Ethical Treatment of Squibs (WETS) have made an appearance here as well! How Ira managed to evade an Azkaban sentence after using the Imperius Curse on a judge during the 483 ½ Winter Wizolympics in Sochi is beyond me. Let’s hope these protests stay peaceful.
