Is a “Fantastic Beasts” Expansion in the Works at Universal Orlando?
NBCUniversal has announced a deal with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution for any broadcast and cable rights in the United States to all of the Harry Potter films, including Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Beginning July 1, 2018, all of the eight films will be seen on NBCUniversal’s USA Network and Syfy, along with the extended director’s cut of the first two Harry Potter films and the 3D versions of Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
Bonnie Hammer, Chairman of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, says of the announcement,
J.K. Rowling’s [w]izarding [w]orld has captured the imagination of fans of all ages, from all walks of life, all over the world…and I’m definitely one of them. I’m thrilled that our networks will be the home for this brilliant storyteller’s magical creations for years to come.
The multi-business partnership also includes new opportunities for Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando, and Universal Studios Japan to engage with fans, such as special events and screenings, which means that spending time at Harry Potter theme parks could soon be even more magical than it already is.
Could this mean an extension onto the Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Who knows what we could get! Maybe a roller coaster ride through New York dodging magical beasts and trying to capture them at the same time?
