Rupert Grint Snatches a New Series!
Rupert Grint is set to star and executive produce a new streaming series on Crackle, and we’re just a tad bit excited!
The ten-part series is based on the cult classic film Snatch, helmed by Guy Ritchie. The show was previously announced as part of Crackle’s 2016 upfronts, although Rupert’s involvement had not yet been revealed.
For those unfamiliar with Ritche’s film, Snatch follows a real-life heist that took place in London. Although the new series is set in the world previously created for the movie, Rupert is set to play Charlie Cavendish, alongside a host of new characters not previously related to the original film. Here’s a brief synopsis of the series:
. . . centers on a group of twenty-something, up-and-coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime. The boys must quickly learn to navigate the treacherous waters of London’s underworld as rogue cops, gypsy fighters, international mobsters and local villains descend.
Rupert’s character is described as a posh, dynamic, and chaotic con man. He will be joined by actors Dougray Scott as Vic Hill and Ed Westick as Sonny Castillo. Production on the series is set to begin next week in Manchester, England, with a series premiere date sometime in 2017.
We’ve already seen Rupert take on some interesting characters after his time as Ron in the Harry Potter films, so it should be easy to picture him as a hustling con man after his roles in Moonwalkers and CBGB.
Let us know how you think he will handle both starring in and producing the series by commenting below. If you’ve seen the original film by Guy Ritchie, tell us what you hope to see from Rupert as Charlie Cavendish in the new series on Crackle when it debuts!
