Five Emotions I Felt During the Pottermore Patronus Quiz
Like many, I spent years waiting for the release of the Patronus quiz on Pottermore. It felt like the final piece of a puzzle I was waiting to complete. When Pottermore began to tease the world with the developing images of the Forest of Dean, I knew it was coming.
Fast forward to last week with the official launch of said quiz, and I felt ready. Until I opened it.
Here are five moments where I got freaked out while taking the Patronus quiz.
1. Apprehensive // “The questions are timed; go with your instincts.”
Oh, God. Are you sure, Pottermore? And what questions should I brace myself for? I had flashbacks to the Sorting Hat quiz and learning my wand.
2. Nervous // That music… and the animation…
It was ominous, and I almost felt I was also in the forest. Then I was swooshing around the forest. It made me question if my answers were truly the best ones. What did it mean if the white light turned left, rather than right?
3. Confused // Blood vs. Bone
What does it mean?! All I could think of was the graveyard scene in Goblet of Fire, and I did not want to base my answer around that. But what were these questions, really? I found out just how time-sensitive they were as I missed one, and now I ponder if this influenced my results.
4. Terrified // THE MUSIC
Did anyone else feel that at the end of this experiment a Dementor was going to pop up and that’s what would cause your Patronus to be revealed? I’m a huge scaredy-cat and was not prepared at all for this potential revelation. I nearly had chills and wanted to peel my eyes in case something showed up on the screen.
5. Panic // The inner revelation that I was about to know my Patronus
Once you know, you can’t look back. You can choose to pretend it never happened and accept your headcanon, but it will be immortalized on your profile forever. Was I ready for this? Was I reading too much into this? Probably.
I had a calming moment once it was over, as I watched my Manx cat run around the forest. Frankly, I’m beyond relieved that the Dementor never made an appearance.
How about you? Am I crazy? Or did you find the quiz slightly creepy as well?
