NaNoWriMo Motivation for the Last Few Hours
The final day of NaNoWriMo is here. It seems like Halloween was just a few days ago. November has just rushed by, and unfortunately, I was not able to spend much time writing. That’s okay, though, because there are still a few more hours to push through and get some more words out.
Have you won already? That’s great! Now you can sit back and relax for the next few hours. Have a nice hot cup of tea for me and read Harry Potter for a bit. Enjoy your win. You’ve done an amazing job.
Now, for those of you who are close to winning, or who are more like me and nowhere near winning, go write. Get whatever you can get written down. It doesn’t matter if it’s good. It doesn’t matter if you stopped making sense a few thousand words ago. Just keep writing until midnight. Set your clocks back a few hours and keep writing until that midnight too. There is still time to win.
We’ve got this! Just think of how nice it will be to start using contractions again. Let that motivate you into winning. Just don’t panic. Out of ideas? Kill off a character. Have something incredibly random happen. Throw a wizard into your story and see how it changes the plot. Have everyone go to a party and use thousands of words to describe the food and decorations. Use a random plot generator. Just keep writing and stay calm.
I don’t wish to alarm you, but you’ve already won. By picking up that quill, opening that notebook, or turning on that computer, you managed to win. You won NaNoWriMo the minute that you wrote your first word. The goal of this month is to get people writing. The 50,000-word goal is certainly something to aim for, but not reaching it doesn’t mean that you have failed because you’ve already won.
I’ll be chained to my computer for the next few hours trying to reach my personal goal. How will you be spending the rest of the day? How did your NaNoWriMo go? Let us know in the comments.
