“Cursed Child” Actor Sam Clemmett Visits Student Actors
Sam Clemmett, who plays Albus Potter in the West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, recently returned to his home county of Norfolk to visit with acting students at Attleborough Academy. While there, Clemmett watched student performances and gave tips to aspiring actors. He advised them to be “as specific as you can… the basis of all acting is listening. You should be constantly alert, always thinking – if you don’t listen then scenes are not electric.”
Clemmett also went through the rehearsal process for Cursed Child, which he said consisted of
… a lot of sitting around a table, talking for hours and hours about the characters.
Before we were even read through any of the play with the cast, we were talking about the characters – their family and background and what had happened to them in the 19 years.
In addition, Clemmett also discussed the differences in his own upbringing and playing the angst that Albus feels, especially with his father Harry and brother James.
Clemmett’s former teachers praised his work ethic and curiosity at a young age and expressed their delight at his success.
We certainly think Sam has been a success! Have you seen his performance? What did you think? Let us know in the comments!
