“Fantastic Beasts” Scores Five BAFTA Nominations
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has picked up a total of five nominations for the upcoming British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards, including Outstanding British Film.
Other nominations for the film are in the categories of Production Design, Costume Design, Sound, and Special Visual Effects. Meanwhile, several former Potter alumni also saw their latest projects score nominations. Kubo and the Two Strings, which Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) lent his voice to, is nominated for Best Animated Film, while Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which Guy Henry (Pius Thicknesse) provided motion capture and voice work for, is nominated in the Makeup & Hair and Special Visual Effects categories.
The Hollywood-set musical La La Land is seen as the frontrunner, after its recent Golden Globes success, and leads the pack here with 11 nominations. Following closely behind is the sci-fi film Arrival and Tom Ford’s dark thriller Nocturnal Animals, both picking up nine nominations. You can read the full list of nominations here.
