“The OA”, HtGAwM, and More “Potter”-Related Projects Nominated for GLAAD Media Awards
It’s that time of year again: The awards season for television and film is in full swing, with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, along with several films of Potter alumni’s, recently picking up BAFTA and Academy Award nominations.
To continue the trend, the nominees for the GLAAD Media Awards were recently announced; these awards serve to recognize different forms of media for their inclusion and representation of the LGBT+ community and related issues. Among those nominated are many projects that feature some of our favorite faces from Potter.
Those nominated for Outstanding Drama Series include ABC’s drama How to Get Away With Murder, starring Potter alumnus Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas) in a pivotal role, and Netflix’s enigmatic supernatural mystery The OA, featuring Jason Isaacs in a turn that makes Lucius Malfoy look like an upstanding fellow.
For Outstanding Limited Series or TV Movie, the five-part drama serial London Spy, featuring Jim Broadbent (Horace Slughorn), was nominated along with the finale special of British sitcom Vicious, which starred Frances de la Tour (Madame Maxime).
Additionally, the Love Is Love comic book anthology, to which J.K. Rowling was a contributor, received a nomination in the Outstanding Comic Book category.
The GLAAD Media Awards honored a diverse array of films and television, among other forms of media, with nominations, and the competition is as stiff as it is varied – from Oscar-nominated drama films to young adult fantasy TV shows and more. You can check out the full list of nominees here.
