USQ to Film Documentary at US Quidditch Cup 10
US Quidditch Cup 10 (USQC10) is just over a week away, and if there wasn’t already plenty of excitement surrounding the tournament, there is now. US Quidditch (USQ) announced yesterday that it will be filming a full-length documentary during the tournament, entitled Why We Play.
This is not the first time that a film has been created based on the sport of Muggle Quidditch. In 2014, the film Mudbloods was released, which focused on the creation of the sport as well as one team’s journey to the Quidditch World Cup.
The focus of Why We Play will be the uniqueness of the sport and how it has developed over the years, as well as the devotion of its players and fans. It will follow the tournament throughout the weekend, beginning the Thursday before matches begin, concluding with interviews after the final Snitch Snatch on Sunday.
Since USQ wants to hear how Quidditch has affected everyone in the community, players, volunteers, and spectators alike will be given the opportunity to be interviewed for the documentary. Interview stations will be open on April 8 and 9 during the tournament.
The MU Film Crew, from the University of Missouri, as well as several volunteers from the Quidditch community, will be helping with the production. USQ is encouraging those interested in volunteering with the making of the documentary to fill out the form here.
