Jack Thorne to Write “The Eddy” for “La La Land” Director
Jack Thorne, the BAFTA-winning English screenwriter and playwright known best for writing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, takes on another project, agreeing to write The Eddy for Oscar award-winning director of La La Land Damien Chazelle. This comes after the announcement of Thorne’s involvement in the new His Dark Materials adaptation and his two new plays on stage in London this year!
Fans do not yet know what format The Eddy will take. It could be a mini-series, a TV movie, or a television show. Your guess is as good as ours! What we do know is that the TV project is being marketed to both cable and streaming outlets. The musical drama revolves around a nightclub and the strenuous difficulties its owner faces due to the unpredictable city (contemporary multicultural Paris) the club resides in.
Damien Chazelle, at just 32 years old, is the youngest director ever to win an Oscar. He has managed to get on board a high-flying team of executive producers, including Glen Ballard, known best for co-writing Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill” and Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.” He has also managed to get Alan Poul involved, known best for Six Feet Under.
Chazelle will go on to direct First Man, a Neil Armstrong biopic by Universal Pictures set for release in the latter half of 2018. This will get him working alongside Ryan Gosling again, who has been cast in the lead role as an astronaut.
We all wish Thorne and Chazelle the best in their latest endeavors. We’ll sure be keeping an eye out for all of their latest projects… will you?
