Matthew Lewis Is Edmond Halley in New “Drunk History” Clip
Put on your powdered wigs, everyone! It’s Drunk History time.
We learned back in March that Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) would be joining the UK Version of Drunk History. Well, we hope you’re ready for some serious laughs, because we’ve been treated to a clip of the actor in his role as English astronomer, geophysicist, mathematician, meteorologist, and physicist Edmond Halley. (Now THAT’S an impressive résumé.)
For those of you a bit in the fog as to whom Edmond Halley is, he is best known for being the one who computed the orbit of Halley’s Comet and was also given the title of Astronomer Royal in Britain. The scene is between Lewis as Halley and English comedian Marek Larwood as Isaac Newton.
Lewis has expressed his enjoyment in playing Halley in the skit but doesn’t think his comedy chops were up to par enough to be the narrator.
I like being drunk, and I quite like history, so it was a nice combination of the two. I was kind of hoping to do the drunk bit, but I’m not funny enough.
What do you think of Lewis’s portrayal of Halley? Would you like to see more of him in comedies such as Drunk History? Sound off in the comments below!
