Rumor: Has “Fantastic Beasts” Cast Newt Scamander’s Brother?

As we eagerly await more casting announcements for the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Variety has indicated that at least one person is currently in talks for the role of Theseus Scamander, Newt’s older brother and an Auror for the Ministry of Magic.

According to Variety, Callum Turner, a British actor and former model, is in talks to take on the role of Theseus. Nothing is known at this time about the plot of the sequel or how heavily involved Newt’s brother may be within the story. What we do know about Theseus is that he was considered a war hero during the first Wizarding War, so one could assume that whatever the plot may be, Theseus will potentially face Johnny Depp’s character, Gellert Grindelwald, in a battle!

J.K. Rowling has a habit of naming characters with very specific ideas in mind of who they are, and MuggleNet previously took a deeper look at Theseus with that tidbit in mind.
