Top Five “Harry Potter” Reconciliations
Happy Reconciliation Day, everyone! In order to celebrate this day, I thought I’d look at the best Harry Potter reunions.
1. Hermione and Ron
[Harry and Ron were] able to enjoy the benefits of having been knocked out and poisoned, the best of which was that Hermione was friends with Ron again” (Half-Blood Prince 423).
It took a potentially fatal incident to bring Ron and Hermione back together again, but they managed to overcome their problems. Half-Blood Prince is another time we see Ron act out and hurt Hermione. Thankfully, this incident didn’t cause irreparable damage to their relationship, and they were able to have several great moments later on.
2. Percy and the Rest of the Weasleys
I was an idiot, I was a pompous prat, I was a — a —”
“Ministry-loving, family-disowning, power-hungry moron,” said Fred.
Percy swallowed.
“Yes, I was!”
“Well, you can’t say fairer than that,” said Fred, holding out his hand to Percy (Deathly Hallows 606).
After everything Percy did to his family, it was nice to see them reunited during the battle. In hindsight, this reconciliation is a little bittersweet knowing that soon after this, Fred dies.
3. Harry and Ginny
She [Ginny] was kissing him as she had never kissed him before, and Harry was kissing her back, and it was blissful oblivion” (Deathly Hallows 116).
I did like how this was done in the books, but I prefer the movie adaptation. Their relationship had several obstacles, and it was nice they had this one moment before Harry had to go save the wizarding world.
4. Harry and Ron
Harry knew Ron was about to apologize and suddenly he found he didn’t need to hear it.
“It’s okay,” he said, before Ron could get the words out. “Forget it” (Goblet of Fire 358).
This was the first, and pretty much the only, time the boys had a major fall out. I didn’t like seeing them fight and was really glad when they sorted their problems out. Although I did enjoy Hermione being the mediator for a change.
5. Hermione and Ron (Again)
I don’t know how it works or why it happened then and not any other time, because I’ve been wanting to come back ever since I left. But I was listening to the radio really early on Christmas morning and I heard . . . I heard you.”
He was looking at Hermione” (Deathly Hallows 383).
I loved how emotional and sappy Ron’s speech was. Ron realizes how badly he messed up and does what he can to make it up to Harry and Hermione.
