Fandoms Unite! Jason Isaacs Compares the “Harry Potter” and “Star Trek” Fandoms
From Lucius Malfoy of Harry Potter to Dr. Hunter Hap of The OA, it seems that Jason Isaacs enjoys playing complex characters full of surprises. So it is no wonder that Isaacs isn’t saying much about his character in the upcoming TV series Star Trek: Discovery!
In an exclusive video interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Isaacs reflected on the long-standing passion of the Potter fandom:
Well, the thing about Harry Potter is, people love it and are so deeply affected by it because it represents not just stories that they liked but [for] most, a lot of people’s entire childhood [as well]. And so there’s that magic that goes on too.
We agree, Jason!
And what better way is there to celebrate all things Potter than the upcoming 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone?
Isaacs then discussed what the Star Trek fandom meant to him:
With the Trekkies, I’ve only just begun to meet them because I’m in it, but it’s not out yet. And it’s remarkable. I feel like a five-year-old at the playground. You’re dressed up and you’re doing all this stuff, and my job is to make it seem real, obviously, but there is some five-year-old child inside me going, “Did you see? I just did that!”
There is no doubt that Isaacs clearly appreciates both fandoms, and we can’t wait to see him excel in Star Trek!
