Professor Everard Actor Sam Beazley Dies Age 101
Sam Beazley, the beloved actor who played Professor Everard in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, died peacefully in his sleep on June 12, 2017, and will be deeply missed by Harry Potter fans everywhere.
Professor Everard was Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’s most celebrated Headmaster (after Albus Dumbledore, of course). Fans will remember him from his scene in Order of the Phoenix when Professor Dumbledore turns to Professor Everard’s oil painting and asks him to go to his portrait at the Ministry of Magic to warn others that Mr. Weasley had been injured in the Department of Mysteries.
The actor started his career during the 1930s when he appeared in a few Shakespearian plays before serving his country in World War II.
Upon his return from the war, Beazley opened his own antique shop, which he ran for several decades before returning to acting at the ripe old age of 75.
He had minor roles in Johnny English and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, and he appeared in TV series such as Little Britain, Midsomer Murders, and Casualty.
Although Beazley did not have a large role in the Harry Potter movies, he was the franchise’s oldest living actor, and we celebrate all who helped bring our beloved series to the big screen.
Our sympathies go out to the late actor’s friends and family.
