Trailer Released for “Goodbye Christopher Robin”!
It was less than two weeks ago that the first poster for Goodbye Christopher Robin was revealed, but the trailer for the A.A. Milne biopic has already been released! The film, which stars Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley), Margot Robbie, and Kelly Macdonald (Helena Ravenclaw – DH2), follows Winnie-the-Pooh author Milne and his son as a childhood game they played together becomes an international success.
The trailer itself opens with violent scenes of World War I but quickly gives way to beautiful shots of the Milne home and 1920s England. It’s narrated by Macdonald as the beloved Nanny Olive. The overall tone of the trailer seems to evoke the sense of happiness and relief that Winnie-the-Pooh brings young readers.
However, we don’t see the relationship between Milne and his son develop into a resentful one after the book’s fame plunges the family, especially Christopher himself, into the world of celebrity. Alex Lawther has been cast as an older Christopher Robin – you may remember him as young Alan Turing from The Imitation Game – so it’s likely that the film will also show the Milne family in their later years.
The good news doesn’t stop at the trailer, though! The film’s release dates have been announced as September 29 in the UK and October 13 in the US, so mark your calendars!
