Daniel Radcliffe: Superhero
No, Dan isn’t joining the DC or Marvel Cinematic Universe (yet! fingers crossed), but he’s just becoming a real life superhero! Even though it’s been years since the last Harry Potter film, it’s clear Daniel Radcliffe hasn’t forgotten the lessons of heroism and compassion he learned from playing its title character. Just as Harry always impressed us with his ability to care for those in need, Dan showed his stuff earlier this week in Chelsea, London.
A tourist there had just been mugged by armed thieves traveling by moped when Dan happened to stumble on the scene. Rather than carrying on, he stopped to console the 50-year-old man, who had unfortunately lost his bag and suffered a slash across the face. Former police detective David Videcetter was also on the scene, and he was stunned to come face-to-face with Harry Potter.
He claims he remarked, “You’re Daniel Radcliffe!” to which Dan responded, “I am.”
Although most would have walked past the scene, especially a high-profile celebrity such as Daniel Radcliffe, Dan showed remarkable compassion and is being compared to a “street-level superhero”, by the BBC. Sure, it’s a step down from savior of the wizarding world, but it’s still fairly impressive.
It wasn’t too much a surprise to hear about this good deed – in the past, Dan has supported the Trevor Project, surprised fans after a screening of one of his movies, and has donated to many charity auctions. He currently has a signed shirt up for auction via Loud Shirt Day, a charity event benefiting Auditory Verbal UK. You can bid on it yourself right here!
All we can say is that we hope the next time we’re in a bit of trouble, Dan is there to rescue us! What is your favorite moment of heroism that Harry (or Dan!) has displayed?
