Evanna Lynch: Vegan and Proud
Evanna Lynch has always been known to be a kind, compassionate person to the people she meets and has been openly vegan since 2015. Recently, however, Evanna has taken her compassion to a whole new level by openly supporting the Plate Up movement for the Vegan Society. This movement is all about teaching others the environmental and health benefits of eating even just one vegan meal a day.
Veganism is a dietary movement that completely takes out meat and animal by-products from the diet. This includes eggs, milk, cheese, animal fats, etc. For ethical vegans, it also includes not using any products, like shampoo or dish soap, that contain or have been tested on animals.
To give her support to the movement, Evanna gave an interview with the Vegan Society explaining what veganism means to her. For her, veganism means showing appreciation for diversity in the world and also understanding that even though something is different from her, it does not mean she can own it.
It is very interesting to see how similar Evanna is to her on-screen character Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series. While Luna was not a vegan in canon, she still had compassion for all things around her. She made it a point to accept everyone, no matter how different they were from her. This similarity in character is just another reason proving why Evanna was the perfect choice to play Luna Lovegood.
Veganism is a growing movement, not just based on food but also around compassion and love for others and the planet. As more people join this lifestyle, it is becoming more accepted, and food establishments are becoming more accommodating.
MuggleNet Live! 2017: Nineteen Years Later is a prime example of this. This September 1, MuggleNet will be hosting an event at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley in Orlando. The menu has already been released; and along with accommodating a number of food allergies, there will also be a number of vegetarian and vegan options. Knowing this, there is no reason to let food be the reason to keep you from the magic!
Will you be at MuggleNet Live!?
