Emma Watson Wins Big at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards
Last night’s Teen Choice Awards saw some of our favorite movies and TV shows of 2017 earning much-coveted honorific surfboards. Riverdale, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Pretty Little Liars were all big winners, but we were most excited to see some beloved Harry Potter alumni win!
Beauty and the Beast swept several categories, taking home five awards. Emma Watson won Choice Fantasy Movie Actress for her role as Belle and took home two joint awards with co-star Dan Stevens: Choice MovieShip and Choice Liplock. In addition, Luke Evans won Choice Movie Villain for his turn as the egotistical Gaston. With such a strong cast, it’s no surprise that Beauty and the Beast also won Choice Fantasy Movie!
Beauty and the Beast wasn’t Emma’s only achievement: She also won Choice Drama Movie Actress for her role in The Circle as Mae Holland, a young woman who discovers deadly secrets when she takes a job at one of the world’s largest social media and technology companies. Fans loved Emma’s performance alongside Tom Hanks and Star Wars’s John Boyega enough to land the actress her second coveted award of the evening!
Wonder Woman garnered three awards, including Choice Action Movie. Although David Thewlis, who portrayed Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter films, didn’t win an individual award, his turn as Ares in Wonder Woman gave Gal Gadot’s Diana a formidable foe to face off against, making this movie absolutely deserving of its laurels. Thewlis has also spoken of his admiration for Gadot, so we know he’s proud of his co-star for winning Choice Movie Actress!
Many talented actors and performers appeared at the Teen Choice Awards last night, and you can see the full list of winners here. Watson and Thewlis performed magnificently in 2017, and we can’t wait to see what award-winning roles they’ll take next!
