Ezra Miller Is Sorry About His Costume in “Justice League”
With Justice League premiering in just about two months, fans of the DC franchise are dying to learn all they can about the movie. One of these devoted fans is Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone), who just happens to play Barry Allen, a.k.a. the Flash. Though the actor is no longer in the dark about the inner workings of DC, he hasn’t been allowed to reveal much about Justice League‘s plot or characters. However, Ezra did drop a crucial detail about the Flash’s costume in a new interview this week. Comic book lovers will be sad to hear that, unlike the original Silver Age version, this costume will not come out of Barry’s spring-loaded ring.
Ezra expressed his respect for the original comics but stressed that changes needed to be made for the movie to work:
Things have to progress, you know? Original Barry Allen was clearly an incredibly, incredibly clever scientist. We acknowledge and respect that…I know the ring is the coolest thing about the DC universe…It was a little hard for us to sell in this version of this universe right now. Bear with us! There’[re] gonna be other cool things.
He also mentioned the lengthy process of getting the costume on in the first place, especially in the first few weeks of filming:
There was a time toward the beginning where it was a very long, delicate process, where everyone was afraid of everything breaking. I would feel like a Victorian lady with my chambermaids. Sometimes I would ask them if they could brush my hair and ask me about the boys whom I fancied.
Still, despite his superhero stardom, Ezra is a fan at heart, as he’s said many times. He elaborated on his nervousness about the role and how it relates to Barry’s own anxiety:
I definitely was feeling like Barry, stepping into the big leagues with this incredible group of collaborators. Feeling like Barry, trying to do the best job I could do. I think that does sum up Barry in this movie, whether you’re talking about his social interactions or his attempts to harness his powers and be a superhero. It’s nice when you have that ‘art mirror life mirror art mirror life mirror art’ thing going on.
Not much else is known about the plot of the movie, but we do know that Ezra will be teaming up with Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman to face off against a new enemy. They are joined by Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg, as well as a star-studded ensemble cast, including Aberforth Dumbledore actor Ciarán Hinds (Steppenwolf), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), Amber Heard (Mera), Kiersey Clemons (Iris West), and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor).
We’re just as excited as Ezra is for Justice League‘s release on November 17 and for his upcoming return to the Fantastic Beasts films! In the meantime, we’ll be searching the trailer and interviews for Easter eggs and more information. And by the way, Ezra? You and your costume are forgiven.
