“Blue Peter” to Honor J.K. Rowling on New Walkway
Let’s face it – if you were a kid growing up in the UK watching afternoon telly, then you probably dreamed about someday being given your very own Blue Peter badge. J.K. Rowling has already been given the highest honor of them all – she was awarded a gold Blue Peter badge back in 2001, right at the beginning of the Harry Potter phenomenon. Gold Blue Peter badges are only awarded to a very lucky few and are given to extraordinary people for outstanding achievements.
Now Blue Peter will be honoring some of the Gold badge recipients with a special walkway. The walkway is being created in order to celebrate the show’s 60th anniversary, a huge achievement in children’s TV. J.K. Rowling is one of the 44 names who will be featured on the walkway, alongside athlete Usain Bolt, gymnast Beth Tweddle, and astronaut Tim Peake. The walkway has been created in the Blue Peter garden in the BBC Media City, Salford.
Congratulations, Jo! Frankly, we can’t think of anything better than being immortalized in Blue Peter’s garden – better than any Hollywood honor for sure.
