All Eight “Potter” Films Coming to HBO in the New Year
All eight Harry Potter films will air on HBO starting January 1, 2018, along with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
This will be the first time since their release that all nine films will air unedited and commercial-free on a single television network. This is also the first time the films will be available for streaming on the same network. Starting January 1, you will be able to stream all eight films along with Fantastic Beasts on HBO GO, HBO NOW, HBO On Demand, and other affiliate streaming portals.
Bruce Grivetti, HBO’s executive vice president of business affairs and president of film programming, expressed how pleased he is with the addition of the Potter films to the network.
We are delighted to welcome the Harry Potter films to our catalogue of award-winning original programming and crowd-pleasing theatrical films. HBO has a long-standing reputation as the home of the best classic and recently released Hollywood movies, and having the Harry Potter franchise furthers our objective to bring quality entertainment to our subscribers across all of our platforms.
To celebrate the acquisition of the films, HBO will be starting off the new year with a complete Harry Potter movie marathon. The marathon will begin at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT on January 1, 2018, with Sorcerer’s Stone, and the other eight films will follow in sequential order. The marathon will conclude with Fantastic Beasts in the early morning hours of January 2. For any die-hard Potter fan, this is by far the best possible way to ring in the new year and guarantee 2018 will be your best year yet.
If you’re not quite up for the full day marathon commitment, don’t worry, because HBO will also air one film a night in order starting January 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT with Sorcerer’s Stone and ending January 10 when Fantastic Beasts will air again. If you haven’t signed up for HBO yet, make sure you do so before the new year in order to partake in this epic Harry Potter marathon!
