Jude Law Met with J.K. Rowling for All the Details on Dumbledore
Now that it’s 2018, we can finally say that the next Fantastic Beasts movie is coming out this year! One thing that we’re all itching to learn more about in the forthcoming films is Dumbledore’s younger days, and one person who definitely has all the details is Jude Law, who will be playing him.
ET caught up with Law on the Golden Globe red carpet on Sunday. When asked how he prepared for playing Dumbledore, he said he got the character’s whole backstory from J.K. Rowling herself.
I sat in a room for an afternoon with J.K. Rowling, and I listened to her extraordinary words of wisdom. She was kind enough to share with me the whole backstory and her future hopes for this young character of Dumbledore, and really that set me on the path. I just did what the writer said.
We can’t wait to see Law bring J.K. Rowling’s vision of young Dumbledore to life!
Like Emma Watson and many other actors at the event, Law was also supporting the Time’s Up movement against sexual harassment in the film industry.
I think it’s important, on a night like this, where we are celebrating our work, it’s also an opportunity to be in solidarity with the men and women who have been brave enough to raise awareness of an issue that our industry needs to reform over. I made a donation and I’m very proud to be here supporting it as a cause.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released November 16, 2018.
