Construction of New Ride Continues at Universal Orlando
Universal Orlando Resort has filed new work permits for the upcoming ride at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure. The project, code-named “Project 942,” is replacing the Dragon Challenge ride, which closed in September of 2017. The park filed two permits for the new ride, one to “demolish existing primaries, replace with new transformers and new secondaries” and one to begin “Phase II foundation design for [the] future facility.” There is speculation that vertical construction of the ride might begin soon, but nothing has been spotted yet.
Not much is known about the new ride, but Universal Orlando promises a brand new experience for Potter fans. In a press release from last July, PR manager Kristen Clark spoke a bit about what can be expected from the new ride.
The new attraction will be one of the most highly-themed [sic] coaster experiences we’ve created. It will combine a new level of storytelling with an action-packed adventure…and a few surprises along the way.
We’ve been speculating based on new merchandise in the parks, but details are still scarce. Comment below on what you think the newest addition to the park might be!
