“Cursed Child” Nominated for Eight Drama Desk Awards!
It’s been a magical week for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Along with an exhilarating opening night celebration, this week also saw the announcement of the nominees for the 63rd Annual Drama Desk Awards. The Drama Desk Awards recognize the Broadway, Off Broadway, and Off Off Broadway shows of the 2017–2018 season. Cursed Child has been nominated for eight awards. This includes a single acting nomination, which went to Anthony Boyle, who plays Scorpius Malfoy. Boyle previously won an Olivier Award for the same role.
Will Cursed Child receive a similar number of Tony nominations? More importantly, will it earn a nomination for Best Play? Cursed Child was not nominated for Outstanding Play for the Drama Desk Awards. Despite the snub, its eight nominations did make it the most-nominated play, as well as a worthy contender for similar Tony Awards.
