“Cursed Child” Choreographer Recognized at Chita Rivera Awards
It turns out that magic isn’t the only skill to be found among Harry Potter alumni. On May 20, the Chita Rivera Awards recognized the best in theatrical dance for the 2017–2018 season, and the jury found plenty to praise.
One of the night’s big winners was choreographer Steven Hoggett, who was honored with the Douglas and Ethel Watt Critics’ Choice Award for his work on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Angels in America. BroadwayWorld reports that the Chita Rivera Awards’ Broadway judging committee selected Hoggett for the award, which recognizes the year’s most outstanding work that falls outside of the awards categories. Hoggett is also nominated for a Tony Award for his Cursed Child choreography.
Also honored at the Chita Rivera Awards were Imelda Staunton and Timothy Spall, whose film Finding Your Feet was nominated for a film award for Best Theatrical Release.
Congratulations to Steven Hoggett on his win and to Imelda Staunton and Timothy Spall for their recognition from the Chita Rivera Awards! We’ll be cheering for them all as awards season continues.
