I’m Begging for a Quidditch Ride
Friends, do you know what the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is missing? It’s a Quidditch-themed ride. Three years ago, I wrote my first plea and here we are. So what’s changed? Why the follow-up?
I rode Flight of Passage at Disney World. And it changed everything.
You can find Flight of Passage in the Animal Kingdom park. For those unaware, you fly through the world of Pandora on the back of a character, and the moment I got off the ride, I was furious Universal hadn’t already executed this ride.
You can see a video of it below:
It is the perfect execution to help you feel like you’re flying, and I just know (deep in my bones) that Universal Studios could put its own spin on it.
Originally, I wrote about how I wanted the ride to focus on Ginny asking if we’d step in for a teammate who got hurt during practice. Now, I’m changing my dreams, and I’d love for the ride to focus on being on the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch where Oliver Wood (because of any excuse for Oliver Wood, right?) is teaching us the basics of the game to prepare for team tryouts.
I’m envisioning the ride queue (the walkthrough we go through while waiting in line) would cover the history of Quidditch from Quidditch Through the Ages and the rules of the game. We’ll see what it takes to be a Beater, Seeker, Chaser, and Keeper.
Then we mount our brooms (Nimbus 2000s, obviously) and start practicing! Oliver throws Quaffles at us and we try to block them. He tosses us the Beater bat, and at the last minute, we swat the Bludger away. Then we switch spots with Oliver, and we practice throwing the Quaffle. And finally, we try our luck at being a Seeker!
I just want to fly, okay? And I think you all want to too!
I’m practically begging at this point. I recognize maybe there’s not enough room for it. Maybe we just need another Wizarding World of Harry Potter park.
Does anyone else feel the same way? Thanks for listening!
