Noma Dumezweni, Anthony Boyle to be Honored at Theatre World Awards
It’s been an exciting awards season for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and it’s only just beginning. The show has already earned ten Tony Awards nominations, and now Tony nominees Noma Dumezweni (Hermione) and Anthony Boyle (Scorpius) will also be honored at the Theatre World Awards.
The Theatre World Awards are the longest-running awards given for outstanding Broadway and Off-Broadway debut performances. Six actors and six actresses are awarded based on their debut performances.
Past recipients from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films include Bill Nighy (Rufus Scrimgeour) for his performance in The Vertical Hour during the 2006–2007 season, Richard Griffiths (Vernon Dursley) for his performance in The History Boys during the 2005–2006 season, Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski) for his performance in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee during the 2004–2005 season, and Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort) for his performance in Hamlet during the 1994–1995 season.
The awards ceremony will be held on June 4, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Circle in the Square Theatre in New York City.
