Wizarding World Alumni Nominated for South Bank Sky Arts Awards
Nominations for the 2018 South Bank Sky Arts Awards, which recognize British achievements in a wide variety of art forms, have been announced, and Harry Potter alumni made an impressive showing!
The Film category is particularly full of Potter alumni, with nods for both Sir Kenneth Branagh’s acclaimed war epic, Dunkirk, and the more lighthearted Paddington 2, which boasts a Potter-studded cast, including Jim Broadbent, Dame Julie Walters, Brendan Gleeson, and Imelda Staunton.
Staunton’s nominations are not limited to one category; her play Follies is nominated for the Theatre award. Also competing in this category is The Ferryman, which is produced by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘s Sonia Friedman Productions.
The awards ceremony will be hosted by Melvyn Bragg, who says these awards will “show how rich and diverse the arts in this country are” in the face of funding cuts in schools. The event will take place on July 1, 2018, at the Savoy Hotel in London and will be broadcast on Sky Arts.
