“Chamber of Secrets” Spider Models Created for Book’s 20th Anniversary and House Editions’ Release!
Germany may be getting Harry Potter: The Exhibition, but soon England will be getting the spiders! July 2 marks 20 years since Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets‘ first publication. To celebrate the anniversary and the release of the new House editions, Bloomsbury Children’s Books has commissioned seven spider models to be created from the pages of the new House editions.
The models were designed and built by Create 180 in London. Starting June 30, six of the spiders will be on display in British bookshops, while the seventh will be displayed in the Bloomsbury offices for the anniversary date before being sent to Seven Stories in Newcastle. The large spiders will be 50 x 50 cm, and each one will be created from a unique page from Chamber of Secrets.
The Chamber of Secrets House editions will be released on June 29. The hardcovers will be in each House color, with the cover art in black, while the paperbacks will be in black, with the cover art in each House color. The page edges of both the paperbacks and hardcovers will be the corresponding House color, while the hardcovers will also have coordinated striping along the side.
Both editions will have special content, including an illustration of the House common room, a House introduction, and information on house-elves.
Will you get a chance to follow the spiders to the bookstore to pick up your copy? Will you get hardcover or paperback? Let us know in the comments! We can’t wait to see what these spiders look like completed!
