Castium Revelio: Movies, Golf, and Secrets!

by Alyssa Scott · July 7, 2018

What are our magical alumni up to? In this week’s MuggleNet’s Casting News, we have news on everyone from John Cleese (Nearly Headless Nick) to Sir Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore), so let’s get down to it! Castium Revelio!

Harry Potter
David Bradley (Mr. Filch) has been cast in Ricky Gervais's new Netflix series After Life. The Independent gives us a synopsis.

['After Life' is] a series that sees a man who decides to no longer care about himself or anyone else following his wife’s sudden death. While Tony (played by Gervais) believes the care-free attitude is a superpower, things prove tricky as friends try to bring the old, nice Tony back.

Jim Broadbent (Professor Slughorn) is joining the cast of Six Minutes to Midnight, a 1930s thriller that will also star Oscar winner Judi Dench and Emmy winner Eddie Izzard. The Hollywood Reporter gives us the movie's premise.

'Six Minutes to Midnight' is based on true events, and follows the story of a teacher assigned to a finishing school on the south coast of England where the daughters of high-ranking Nazis learn to become faithful members of Hitler's League of German Girls.

Hacked Off is hosting a special event at the Royal Geographical Society in London with John Cleese (Nearly Headless Nick). The event, to be held on July 8, includes an Ask Me Anything portion of the evening as well as Cleese's "thoughts on world peace, popular delusions, political correctness & his relationship with the British Press," according to the Twitter announcement made by @hackinginquiry.

A new poster for upcoming spy thriller Damascus Cover was released, and it features the late Sir John Hurt! Hurt played Mr. Ollivander in the Harry Potter films, and according to Entertainment Focus, Damascus Cover is his last film appearance. Check out the trailer below!

Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory) received the President's Award at Karlovy Film Festival on July 7. Variety reports that "David and Nathan Zellner’s Western comedy, Damsel, in which Pattinson stars alongside Mia Wasikowska, screens at the festival Saturday." Pattinson has also been shooting The King, a Shakespeare-inspired Netflix original film.

James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley) are returning to the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championships, ready to take each other on! Golf Punk reports that they won't be the only famous players on the green.

James and Oliver are not the only famous faces who will be taking part at this year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship, with former Wales and Arsenal striker John Hartson, England rugby legend Mike Tindall MBE and Irish boyband stars Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy all set to feature at the event during the course of the week.

Par 3 is a scaled down version of golf that "came about to help with training and coaching, helping to focus on basic core principles such as technique and tactics," according to British Par 3. You can see its promo video below.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
As some fans might know, Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore) portrayed Lenny Belardo, the fictional first American Pope, in The Young Pope. It's now been announced that in the follow-up series, The New Pope, Law will star opposite John Malkovich. Plot details are, thus far, top secret.
