UPDATED: Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton to Join “The Walking Dead” Season 9 Cast!
UPDATE (July 22):
We’ve learned a little more about the role Dan Fogler will play in Season 9 of The Walking Dead. His character will be named Luke, who in the comics is a member of Magna’s crew. Fogler announced this on Instagram with the hint that his character was named after his favorite Jedi.
In the comics, Fogler’s character, Luke, is confronted by Whisperer leader Alpha. It’s been announced that the role of Alpha will be played by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them‘s Samantha Morton (Mary Lou Barebones). Fans have been speculating whether the Whisperers would show up in Season 9, and now we know they will. These survivors wear suits made of human skin in order to disguise themselves among the walkers. In the comics, Alpha is a ruthless leader who doesn’t get along with Rick Grimes (who is played by Quidditch Through the Ages audiobook narrator Andrew Lincoln). Alpha is being touted as the biggest villain since Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan.

One of our favorites from the Fantastic Beasts quartet, Dan Fogler, has just been confirmed for a role in the immensely popular TV show The Walking Dead.
With this news hot off the press, it is rumored that Fogler’s role will be clarified at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. AMC is debuting a Season 9 trailer during its panel for the show in Hall H on Friday. It has been confirmed that Fogler will be floating around Comic-Con, hosting a live podcast and talking as a guest on panels.
We also hope to see him during Warner Bros.’ large Hall H event Saturday morning, as we hold out for any crumb of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Fogler’s Fantastic Beasts costar Ezra Miller will also be in town performing with his band on the last day of the convention. He, too, is rumored to be joining Warner Bros. for its large panel since he is an important character in two of its leading films within the next year – the title character in The Flash and Credence in Crimes of Grindelwald.
Since we are also currently on-site at Comic-Con, we will be sure to bring you the latest on any new Harry Potter or Fantastic Beasts information!
