We Tried the New Butterbeer Ice Cream at Universal Studios and YUM!
We recently told you that hard-packed butterbeer ice cream is the newest summer addition to Universal Studios Hollywood. If you caught our Instagram story (you can see some of the highlights below!) a few days ago, you probably saw that our verdict is that this ice cream is absolutely delicious! It’s the perfect butterbeer taste – that delightful mix reminiscent of butterscotch, caramel, and cream – all in smoothly churned frozen perfection.
Unlike the soft serve ice cream you can get at Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour in Diagon Alley, the hard-packed ice cream has less of the creamy aspect and is not as photogenic (no lovely little swirls of caramel color on white!). However, the hard-packed holds up more in the scorching sunlight of Southern California than the soft serve would, so by the time you finish, it has reached that perfect consistency but has not become a puddle better consumed with a straw.
Now it’s possible to try both versions at Universal Orlando Resort! The soft serve is still available in Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida, and now you can pick up the hard-packed ice cream in Hogsmeade, located in Islands of Adventure. The chance for more ice cream is surely worth the price of a park hopper ticket! Hard-packed butterbeer ice cream is also available at Universal Studios Japan.
Have you tried the hard-packed butterbeer ice cream in any of the parks? What did you think of it? Let us know in the comments!
