New Details Released About Mysterious “Crimes of Grindelwald” Character Yusuf Kama
As seen in the latest trailer, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) is set off on a quest by Dumbledore (Jude Law), but he isn’t the only character on a mission in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Information about new character Yusuf Kama (William Nadylam), a French-African wizard, was teased in an exclusive excerpt from the upcoming Pottermore article “ Significantly, we now know that Yusuf is hunting down Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller). This is likely the reason why Yusuf has been spotted in the Circus Arcanus where Credence now resides.
Furthermore, this pursuit is mandated by an Unbreakable Vow, whereby if Yusuf does not fulfill his promise, he will die. Just why Yusuf made this vow and whom it was with is still unknown, but Credence will surely need to keep an eye out for this mysterious wizard.
Not only is Yusuf after Credence, but he also has some intriguing familial connections. It was revealed that Yusuf considers himself the last male heir to an unknown pure-blood line, but he also has a connection to another character – Leta Lestrange (Zoë Kravitz).
It seems that Yusuf’s mother, Laurena Kama (Isaura Barbé-Brown), was “taken” by Corvus Lestrange and bore his child, Leta. How Yusuf feels about his half-sister is unknown, but any reunion between Yusuf and the Lestranges will surely be tense.
Considering Yusuf’s relation to the Lestranges and the glimpse caught of what appears to be Yusuf in front of a family tree that connects Credence with the Lestrange family, it seems possible that they might be linked more intimately, potentially explaining Yusuf’s obsession with finding Credence.
