Rumor: Is Emma Watson Set to Star in Upcoming “Black Widow” Movie?
Jude Law has recently crossed the fandom line into the Marvel Cinematic Universe by starring in Captain Marvel, but if we’re to believe the rumors, there could soon be another wizarding world star set to join the superhero ranks…
According to That Hashtag Show, Emma Watson is reportedly at the top of a list of actresses who are being considered for a role acting opposite Scarlett Johansson in the as-yet-untitled Black Widow movie. The role in question has been described as a “female Bond” and “originally called for an actress in the 30-39 range” who can speak multiple languages.
Although That Hashtag Show doesn’t reveal the source of this potential casting information, the story has been picked up by a number of other news outlets, including ComicBookMovie.com and Den of Geek.

It is not yet known if the character will be a friend or enemy of Avenger/assassin/double agent Natasha Romanoff (played by Johansson), but the producers of the movie are said to be narrowing down their search for talent. And while no one has been officially announced as being in contention for the role, other actresses who are rumored to be considered are Alice Englert (Beautiful Creatures) and Emma’s Little Women costar Florence Pugh.
However, in the fast-moving world of Hollywood, we’ll never really know who will star in the movie until an official announcement is made. Until then, why not see if you agree with MuggleNet’s matching of Marvel characters to their Harry Potter counterparts?
What do you think about this casting rumor? Would you like to see Emma Watson join the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
