Jamie Parker of “Cursed Child” to Star in “1917”
After over two years since the first performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, it is now time to say farewell to the original cast. The success of a Broadway production is attributed to everyone involved, but the onstage roles play a major part in what makes a play lovable. Potterheads from around the world have gathered to see the magic of Cursed Child, and now that the Potter curtains have closed for the original cast, fans are curious to see what they are working on next.
Jamie Parker (Harry Potter) has landed his first role since leading the first production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Parker will be appearing in 1917, a Sam Mendes film for Dreamworks Pictures and Universal Pictures.
Parker’s work is mainly in theater, and he received an Olivier Award and was nominated for a Tony Award for his portrayal of Harry in Cursed Child. 1917 will be his fifth role in a motion picture.
The movie, lead by George Mackay (The Boys Are Back) and Dean-Charles Chapman (West End’s Billy Elliot the Musical), tells the story of two young British soldiers charting a day of their activity during World War I. The cast additionally includes Mark Strong (A View from the Bridge), Andrew Scott (Pride), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Richard Madden (Bodyguard), Daniel Mays (Rogue One), Adrian Scarborough (Christopher Robin), Nabhaan Rizwan (Informer), and Claire Duburcq.
