Oliver Phelps Will Perform in a Student Production of “Beowulf”
Best known for his role as George Weasley in the Harry Potter films, Oliver Phelps is set to support aspiring young actors, performing alongside Solihull and Coventry schoolchildren in a new production of Beowulf.
A story of magical beasts, demons, and warriors, in this musical production, Beowulf’s title character, Prince Beowulf, will be narrated by Phelps. The retelling will bring together 450 students from a number of AC Academy choirs, which are part of an Armonico Consort singing education program working to give opportunities to young musical performers.
As the latest rendition of Beowulf draws near, Armonico Consort reflected on the first AC Academy choirs performance of the tale.
When we first performed Beowulf in 2017 it was quickly clear that our composer-in-residence Toby Young had created something really special. It completely captured the imagination of the children and all the musicians we worked with.
Oliver Phelps and the AC Academy choir students will perform Beowulf at Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry on June 27, beginning at 7:15 p.m.
