Daniel Radcliffe Finally Reveals Whether He’ll Be the Next James Bond
There’s no denying that Harry Potter fans would love to see Daniel Radcliffe in any movie possible, but he’s only human – a very famous human, but human nonetheless – a human who doesn’t want to portray the role of James Bond. Come on, Radcliffe, why not?
Radcliffe recently spoke to BBC 2 radio host Zoe Ball and revealed that it would be “ridiculous” for him to play the role of James Bond once Daniel Craig steps out. Many had been hoping that he would say the opposite, because in Playmobil: The Movie, Radcliffe portrays the role of Rex Dasher, who is a Playmobil version of James Bond. Radcliffe, however, doesn’t feel like the James Bond tuxedo will fit him, and he told Ball as much.
Rex Dasher is a Playmobil version of James Bond. There’s a ridiculous thing that will sound suitably ridiculous to your listeners, because they know that it would be ridiculous for me to play James Bond in real life.
Radcliffe added that playing the Playmobil version of James Bond was more up his alley, but taking on the role in the spy franchise is not something that’s going to happen.
It’s clear that he enjoyed voicing Rex in the film, saying that he is a very silly and fun character.
He’s totally overconfident and oblivious. The film as a whole is about a young girl and her brother dealing with a traumatic and exciting incident at the beginning of the film that’s then healed by this crazy adventure they go on as they’re sucked into a Playmobil fantasy universe.
Something else that seems completely off the table for Radcliffe right now is singing. In all honesty, we’d love to hear him sing in a film or theater production again, but it doesn’t seem like he’s going to give us the pleasure anytime soon. Playmobil: The Movie has many musical numbers, but Radcliffe doesn’t sing in any of them. Fans were hopeful once more that they might hear him sing again when it was announced that he would be appearing in Samuel Beckett’s Endgame alongside Alan Cumming next year, but Radcliffe says that he’s not going to do any singing there either.
It’s also a musical, but don’t worry. I don’t sing, so people won’t have to experience that. It’s left to others. It’s very, very fun.
It would’ve been more fun if you were singing in it, Dan. Clearly, Radcliffe doesn’t think very highly of his musical abilities, which is ridiculous because he did a stunning job in the Broadway production How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. We’d love to see him do something similar in the future.
