Join the Broadway Cast of “Cursed Child” for “Light in the Darkness: A Variety Show”
For one night only, the multi-talented Broadway cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is putting on a variety show in aid of a very magical charitable cause.
On Monday, July 22, James Snyder (Harry Potter) will be hosting an evening of “music, magic, and mayhem” featuring the cast of Cursed Child at Birdland Jazz Club in New York City. The show, titled Light in the Darkness: A Variety Show, is raising money for J.K. Rowling’s charity, Lumos, which helps end the institutionalization of children across the globe.

As of yet, there is no official announcement of which cast members will be there on the night. However, a tip from MuggleNet staff member Samantha (who is also a Cursed Child superfan!) has revealed that Jonno Roberts (Draco Malfoy), Diane Davis (Ginny Potter), and Sarita Amani Nash will be in attendance.
Viewers of Episode 2 of Broadway.com’s Magic to Do: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with James Snyder will have also caught a glimpse of a rehearsal for one of the performances. Skip to 7 minutes and 44 seconds in the video below to see Snyder, Davis, and fellow cast member Erica Sweany cover Pat Benatar’s “We Belong.”
While we might not know a lot about the variety show, with a host like Snyder (who has previously starred opposite musical theater royalty Idina Menzel), the night is sure to be unforgettable.
Light in the Darkness: A Variety Show takes place for one night only, on July 22, as part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series. Tickets to the show start at $30 and can be purchased on the Birdland website.
