Can you smell that little hint of autumn in the air, wizards and witches? Summer is coming to an end, and as we all know, that means a new term at Hogwarts is about to begin. Along with the rest of the wizarding world, both Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery are celebrating the unofficial September 1 holiday known as Back to Hogwarts Day with a variety of in-game events.
Wizards Unite August Update
Week 1 of Wizards Unite’s latest Brilliant Event - “Back to Hogwarts” - is now ongoing through August 20, which means sparkly purple Foundables will be popping up all over your community.
During the first week of the two-part event, those Foundables include the following:
Brilliant Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin Student Trace Foundables
Brilliant Hogwarts Express Conductor and Hogwarts Express Event Quest Foundables
Wizards Unite Hub notes that this week’s Trace Foundables are all low on the threat scale as compared to prior event Foundables’ medium and high rankings.
The site also reveals that the second part of the Brilliant Event - “Hogwarts Gates” - will run August 27–September 3 and include the following Foundables:
Brilliant Sorting Hat Trace Foundable
Hogsmeade Sign 3km Event Portkey Foundable
Hogwarts Boat Fortress Foundable
Winged Boar Statue, Carriage, and Thestral Event Quest Foundables
During both weeks of the Brilliant Event, players will also be able to find unique Registry Pages and Special Assignments and uncover awards ranging from Restricted Section books to exclusive items for their Ministry of Magic ID portraits.
So get out there and defend wizardkind!
Hogwarts Mystery August Update
As sixth year begins in Hogwarts Mystery, plenty is going on both in the hallowed halls and beyond.
Depending on your activity - and energy - level in the game, you may or may not have already met a few goodwill ambassadors from Beauxbatons Academy of Magic in the “Pen Friend or Foe?” side quest. Just in case you’re on the “have not” side, we won’t spoil the details; suffice it to say, Penny Haywood’s pen pal, Aurélie, may have traveled to Hogwarts for reasons other than enjoying the scenery, and your Abraxan winged horse may have finally met its match.
Meanwhile, post-Cursed Vault Ben Copper continues to baffle us - first being pretty annoying, now skulking around Knockturn Alley - and there’s something tall, light, and hairy in the Rocky Mountains of the Magical Creatures Reserve!
As for what we have to look forward to in the near future (other than more stressful leaderboard challenges), Hogwarts Mystery has encouraged players to begin checking its social media accounts for #BackToHogwarts celebrations and indicated things around the lake may soon be heating up.
The game has also dropped a couple of interesting teases over the past two days, one indicating our old pal Bill Weasley will soon be paying us a visit, the other making us wonder whether we’ll soon be given the opportunity to socially acceptably knock Merula Snyde off her broom as a member of our House Quidditch team.
