Review and Giveaway: Win a “HARRY POTTER™” Table Lamp with Illuminated “HOGWARTS™” Castle from The Bradford Exchange!

by Richa Venkatraman · September 8, 2019

The Bradford Exchange never disappoints with its beautiful Harry Potter pieces for the most avid Potterheads, and its table lamp with a Hogwarts base is certainly no exception. I’ve received the opportunity to provide my review of this magical edition to The Bradford Exchange’s extensive collection, and I’m absolutely ecstatic to announce MuggleNet’s partnership with The Bradford Exchange to offer the chance for you to win your very own “HARRY POTTER™” Table Lamp!

As an enthusiastic collector of Harry Potter items, I was super excited to receive this absolutely gorgeous table lamp from The Bradford Exchange! Featuring a handcrafted, hand-painted “HOGWARTS™” Castle sculpture base that lights up and a fabric lampshade printed with a Marauder’s Map design, this table lamp is a beautiful centerpiece that stands out amid my Harry Potter collection.

The lamp itself is surprisingly lightweight and very easy to assemble and move. It stands at 16 inches high, and the cord is about five feet long, by my estimate, long enough that I could plug it in under my desk and comfortably move it to either side of the desk.

The “HOGWARTS™” sculpture that makes up the base of the lamp is hand-painted and intricately detailed, and it’s my favorite thing about this piece. Every tower and turret, every window and every chimney, is skillfully rendered, and you can even feel the texture of the bricks running your finger over them.

The base also lights up! With a flick of the switch or a swish and flick of your wand, light streams from the windows of “HOGWARTS™” Castle and instantly reminds us Potter fans of home.

The other magical part of this item is the fabric lampshade. With the lamp turned off, the lampshade is a plain, unassuming brown. Yet when you flick the light on, as surely as if you tapped it with your wand and said, “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good,” the Marauder’s Map is revealed! The illustration is printed on the inside of the lampshade so that when the lamp is turned on, the design shines through. When you’re done studying, be sure to tap it with your wand and say, “Mischief managed. Otherwise, anyone can read it.”

The lamp has three different settings. The first turn of the switch turns on just “HOGWARTS™” Castle, which is not overwhelmingly bright. That setting is perfect for when you wake up in the middle of the night after dreaming of tap-dancing spiders and just need a glass of water. A second turn of the switch turns off “HOGWARTS™” Castle and turns on the main bulb, revealing the Marauder’s Map design. A third turn of the switch turns them both on. The effect of the illuminated “HOGWARTS™” Castle is lost a little when the main bulb is turned on as well, but the overall effect is still beautiful.

Whether you’re studying for your next Charms exam or perusing Hogwarts: A History for some light reading before bedtime, this table lamp is a great addition to any Potter fan’s collection!
