“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” to Be Released in 4K 3D in China
As China prepares to reopen its movie theaters following the COVID-19 outbreak there, moviegoers will have a little more magic in their lives. Deadline reports that Warner Bros. is planning to rerelease Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone to theaters in a remastered 4K 3D version.
Although no date has been set for the release, Warner Bros. teased on its official Weibo account that “Magic is coming!” for Harry Potter fans in China. Known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in many markets, the first film in the Harry Potter series made over $978 million worldwide.
Deadline noted that Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone won’t be the only film coming to theaters in China soon. Local films will be rereleased in the first wave of films to hit movie theaters since the country was shut down in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, followed by Hollywood films that were due to be released before the theaters were closed.
