Review: Kinder Beauty Box – Evanna’s Favorites Edition!
Potterheads and beauty enthusiasts, unite: Evanna Lynch, the actress who plays Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films, has launched her very own beauty subscription. Kinder Beauty Box (pronounced like kindness, not kindergarten) is a monthly selection of cosmetics delivered right to your door once a month. It’s a great way to try out new beauty products on a budget. Check out what our Lead Editorialist Chelsea Korynta experienced with a box of their own!

Although there are many different kinds of beauty box subscription services out there, Evanna and co-curator Daniella Monet, from Nickelodeon’s Victorious, set out with a mission in mind when they formed Kinder Beauty Box. They strive to make clean, vegan, and cruelty-free products the norm rather than the exception in the beauty industry. Kinder Beauty sources products only from companies that are 100% cruelty-free and free of the most common toxins, sometimes referred to as “the Dirty Dozen.” Plus, a portion of their monthly proceeds goes to animal rights and environmental causes.
The special-release Evanna’s Favorites edition of the Kinder Beauty Box is a collection of Evanna’s most beloved skin, hair, and makeup products. “The items in my favorites box might as well be a page ripped from my diary,” says Evanna. “Since I’m front-facing in both my activism and my career, I want to make sure I’m taking care of that face with TLC, which is evident from my go-to products featured in this fabulous box.”
It was clear to me that Evanna emphasizes taking care of her skin in her beauty routine. Her “favorites” box contains almost an entire skincare routine, with products that provide a lot of TLC for those who wear a lot of makeup, who are on the go, or who strive for glowy, vibrant skin. She included the Akar Skin mini toner and facial oil, which are excellent for anyone with dry skin. The oil was a bit… well… oily for my skin, but I enjoyed the full-size “Dear Self, I Am Gleaming” face moisturizer. I have extremely sensitive skin, and the vitamin E included in this moisturizer is a dream for my sometimes-super-irritated skin. Plus, as an added bit of TLC for dry skin situations, Evanna added the Dr Botanicals pomegranate sleep mask. It smells fantastic and helps makeup go on more smoothly the next morning.
Speaking of makeup, I was excited to try the Clove + Hallow Hydratint blush serum (a nod toward the Deathly Hallows, Evanna?). It’s curiously packaged and looks sort of like nail polish, but it is a wonderfully blendable blush that also serves as a hydrating serum. For folks with sensitive skin like me, this stuff works like a dream, as makeup can be seriously inflammatory to the skin. With the box, you’ll also add a MOTD Cosmetics Get Cheeky With It blush brush to your kit, which is perfect for buffing out your new blush serum. My favorite product is the berry-colored Full House shade from Folly Fire lipstick. Evanna values a bit of boldness in her makeup routine! This lipstick isn’t super long-lasting but makes up for it in how hydrating it feels to wear. Plus, this shade smells faintly of vanilla.
If you’ve been looking to try out a new shampoo and conditioner, the box includes travel-sized bottles of EVOLVh shampoo and conditioner. I’m a blonde like Evanna, and I understand why she loves the EVOLVh line. The shampoo made my hair feel super clean without drying it out, and the conditioner smelled so pleasant while providing not-too-heavy moisture to my color-treated hair. (Disclaimer: I’m not certain Evanna’s a bottle blonde like I am, but I’m super jealous if that white-blonde is her natural color!)
Even the Kinder Beauty Box packaging is eco-friendly and made from 100% recycled materials. The box is small, so the items within fit snugly on top of a bed of paper streamers. All the packaging is biodegradable and compostable, and when you open the box, you get a coupon on compostable seed paper, including instructions on how to care for your new plant. I often wonder about the environmental impact that comes with the shipping industry, and it was refreshing to read that these women thought of sustainability every step of the way when developing this beauty subscription, even the box their products come in.
Overall, I would recommend Kinder Beauty Box when considering a cosmetic subscription service. Their products are both sensible and luxurious, and it’s a great way to try high-end makeup that’s totally cruelty-free! The products included in the Evanna’s Favorites edition feel like cosmetics I would use in my daily routine, and I feel like Evanna considered skin types that need a little extra care in her curating. You can rest easy knowing you’re getting sustainably sourced products while also pampering yourself and hopefully finding your new favorite products.
