Tom Felton and Jason Isaacs’s Top Tips on How to Cope During COVID-19
“COVID-19” seems to be the word on everyone’s lips these days. It’s all most of us can think about, especially since most countries have put their citizens under lockdown or quarantine. The good news is that most of our favorite Harry Potter alumni are also homebound, which means the chances of us getting some content from them on social media is pretty good. This is exactly what happened last week – the Harry Potter fandom was blessed with a Malfoy reunion, and the father and son duo had some sound advice on how to stay sane during this crazy time.
Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) and Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) joined together for a video call last week in support of the British Red Cross. It turns out that these two are also experiencing a bit of boredom just like the rest of us. They do, however, have some stellar advice on how to spend your time well during this period of social distancing, and it includes not only focusing on yourself but also extending your thoughts and help to those in need.
Isaacs posted the video of his and Felton’s conversation on Instagram last Friday, writing,
“Malfoy Family Reunion. Sharing lockdown life. Draco and Lucius connect as part of @BritishRedCross #PowerOfKindness #PhoneAFriend. Try it. #HarryPotter #StayHomeSaveLives @t22Felton #TomFelton.”

Felton was seen in the garden of his house in California, playing with his dog, Willow. He expressed his gratitude for being able to be outside amid the quarantine. Isaacs shared Felton’s view.
We’ve got a house and we’ve got food, so that puts us a million times better than so many people who don’t have anywhere to live and don’t have anything to eat and don’t have any money and all the people who are sick or dying…so can’t complain. But it’s, f–k, it’s weird and scary, is what it is.
We share Isaacs’s feeling that this is indeed a very scary time, but he and Felton didn’t linger on the negative for long. Instead, they steered the conversation in a more positive direction. Felton shared that his healthy eating habits had gone straight out the window since quarantine started, joking that he’s currently on a Kit Kat and salt and vinegar chips diet. So are we Felton, so are we. Isaacs, on the other hand, has subscribed to every available streaming service and is binging different shows, including the very popular Netflix documentary Tiger King.
Eating snacks and binging a variety of TV shows aren’t the only things these two recommend people do during the quarantine. They also discussed ways to give back during the pandemic. Felton suggested that this is the perfect time to get creative with how you spend your time, like helping out at your local food bank, adding that we are, after all, redefining how we live our lives during this trying time. He also added that this period of time will probably serve as a spiritual awakening for everyone around the world.
We do hope that this strange and trying time will allow people to take a step back and realize what is truly important in life. In the end, it’s not about what kind of job you have or the house you live in or the car you drive. It’s about the people you surround yourself with – your friends and family. May we all take some time in these next few weeks and months to reflect on what is important in life and how we can give back to others. After all, we are always stronger when we stand together.
