Dawn French (the Fat Lady), Stephen Fry (narrator of the Harry Potter audiobooks in the UK), and Dame Emma Thompson (Professor Sybill Trelawney), whose names are famous among Harry Potter fans, will share their personal experiences of the NHS in the charity book.
Anna Valentine, who is an executive publisher at the Orion Publishing Group, spoke of the book’s premise and also offered interested readers a description:
In Dear NHS, 100 inspirational people come together to share their stories of how the national health service has been there for them, and changed their lives in the process. By turns deeply moving, hilarious, hopeful and impassioned, these stories together become a love letter to the NHS and the 1.5 million people who work within it. It is a privilege to be able to publish a book that gives something back to those who already give so much.
Kay spoke of his passion for the NHS:
Every single one of us owes so much to the NHS. It is our single greatest achievement as a nation, always there for us, and never more so than now. Since this project was conceived barely a week ago, I have been blown away by the number of people who have been in touch to share their amazing stories. I hope that the book, and the money it raises for charity, will in some way manage to say thank you to the heroes who are putting our lives before their own every day.
Profits from the book will be donated to NHS Charities Together to help fund vital research and projects, and to the Lullaby Trust, which supports parents who have been left bereaved by the loss of babies and young children.
Other famous faces set to share their experience of the National Health Service include Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke and former Doctor Who stars Peter Capaldi and Catherine Tate.
Dear NHS: 100 Stories to Say Thank You will be published on July 9, 2020, and can be preordered in the UK on Amazon. All profits will go to the chosen charities. There is currently no option available to preorder in the United States.
Also helping the NHS during this difficult time are the Harry Potter-branded buses from Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter that are offering NHS staff free travel to work.
Sometimes magic can happen in the real world, and we’re sure the NHS staff across the United Kingdom will be grateful for this incredible project. Will you be getting a copy? Let us know in the comments below.
