“Harry Potter”-Themed Café Prepares for Relaunch After Lockdown
Once lockdown is lifted, a coffee shop in Northampton, United Kingdom, will relaunch as one of the county’s first licensed Harry Potter merchandise sellers. The owner of this magical café spilled the (coffee) beans to the Northampton Chronicle & Echo about their plans.
The week before lockdown began, the Magic Bean Emporium was set to open in its new location at Northampton Railway Station after moving from St Giles Street in March. The same week the Magic Bean Emporium set up its relaunch, the government called for the shutdown of all cafés, pubs, and restaurants to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Owner Michella Dos Santos is excited to relaunch the shop with some additional surprises! Dos Santos is undergoing the requirements to be one of the first licensed Harry Potter retailers in the county.
We’ve always been inspired by all things magical, and now we’ll have chocolate frogs, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans and loads of stationery and plushies.
Dos Santos thought this would be the extra bang needed to make the relaunch exciting! The thought occurred to her, so she decided to reach out to Warner Bros. and received the green light to sell the official merchandise. We don’t have an extensive list of the merchandise that will be in the shop yet but hope to in the near future.
Dos Santos agrees that the lockdown occurred at an inconvenient time, but she is remaining positive for herself and her staff. She is hoping the relaunch and opening will be a huge step for the business. The Magic Bean Emporium has a delicious menu that includes sweet treats, tea blends, specialty coffees, and so much more. Check out some of the menu and merchandise on the shop’s official Facebook page!
