J.K. Rowling Returns to Twitter with Plenty of “Harry Potter”-Related Tweets
Since pretty much the whole world went on lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak, J.K. Rowling has found comfort in returning to Twitter to talk tattoos, baking, Harry Potter, and a whole lot more.
From reorganizing her bookshelves to taking an online fictional character quiz, Jo has been keeping us informed about her lockdown activities while also sharing writing tips.
Let’s begin with the Harry Potter-related tweets. Probably because she was looking for something to do, Jo took a “which character” personality quiz. The quiz gives you 28 pairs of adjectives on either end of a sliding scale, and where you choose to place the slider ultimately determines your result. Jo was awarded Dumbledore, which we’re pretty sure she’s very happy about, especially since she’s revealed in the past that Dumbledore is her favorite character.

Asked by a fan whether or not she creates the world she’s writing first and then fills it with characters, Jo revealed that she had spent seven years before Philosopher’s Stone was first published creating the [wizarding] world because she needed to know how certain bits like the Ministry of Magic worked.
I created a lot of world in the seven years before the Philospher’s Stone was published. I needed to know the laws and boundaries, especially what magic could and couldn’t do, and how certain bits, eg, Ministry of Magic, worked. Then I extended as I went! https://t.co/VgyQZFWfYL

When April 1 came along, Jo tweeted a happy birthday message to two of her character creations, Fred and George Weasley! (Did you know the twins turned 42 this year?!)
Happy Birthday, Gred and Forge.
(and let’s focus on the happy, not on the You-Know-What of You-Know-Which)

Jo is also readily available to point out any Quidditch errors.
Sorry to be picky, but where’s the Keeper? They left that goal post wide open to attack. https://t.co/HNpfSbxSgC

Next comes the emotional tweet: Be warned!
One of Jo’s followers from Italy tweeted Jo to say a viewing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was due to air and she wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Snape again. Jo replied with an emotional story of a dress rehearsal for the performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child when she saw Snape’s appearance for the first time. She recalls seeing the long black wig and confessed her eyes filled with tears because, for a split second, her heart believed that when Snape turned around, it would be the late Alan Rickman.
In Harry Potter & the Cursed Child, Snape makes his first appearance with his back to the audience. At the dress rehearsal I saw him in his long black wig & my eyes filled with tears because, for a split second, my irrational heart believed when Snape turned round, I’d see Alan. https://t.co/qC3xxmwz3d

Don’t expect to see a Harry Potter tattoo on Jo anytime soon.
No, it would be very, very weird. Like getting my own face tattooed on me. https://t.co/0YvSkaYHQp

Along with all the Harry Potter tweets, Jo recently opened up about how she’s coping with quarantine. When a follower asked, Jo listed out quite a few of her activities, which included writing, baking, tidying, and coming back to Twitter, which she admitted she never thought she would do!
Let’s see… so far, I’ve done loads of writing, chatted to friends digitally, baked cakes, reorganised my bookshelves, forced my teenage kids to play board games with me & set them books to read, played with the dogs & come back to Twitter, which I thought I’d left forever 🤷♀️ https://t.co/iE6Bxsr4Q0

Earlier this week, Jo told her fans she has fully recovered from coronavirus symptoms. Phew!
Rowling has also been retweeting scenery pictures, sharing which “dead author quarantine house” she would choose, and posting seriously cute pictures of her dogs.
