Join David Tennant and David Beckham for Chapter 11 of “Philosopher’s Stone”
It’s a tale of two Davids in the latest installment of Harry Potter at Home’s read-along of Harry’s first year at Hogwarts. Taking on Chapter 11 of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, titled “Quidditch,” is Potter alumnus David Tennant and one of England’s most recognizable soccer stars, David Beckham.
There couldn’t be a more perfect pair to take on this chapter. Tennant played Barty Crouch, Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, a character who causes quite a stir at the Quidditch World Cup. Tennant takes on the narration for this chapter, while Beckham, sitting in front of his fireplace and in a Gryffindor scarf, uses his sporting expertise to bring the Quidditch commentary to life.
Discussing this opportunity to read a chapter from Philosopher’s Stone, Beckham spoke about the love he and his daughter have for the Potter books:
I couldn’t be happier than to be asked to read to you from Chapter 11 of this amazing book, and I am not sure anything could make my daughter Harper prouder right now because she is a huge Harry Potter fan. And of course, we love to lose ourselves in the wonderful world that J.K. Rowling has created.
So do we! One of the best parts about the Harry Potter at Home read-along is rediscovering the wizarding world through the different interpretations of each narrator. What do you think of the double David reading?
