Suspension of “Cursed Child” Performances in Australia Continue
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the suspension of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child performances has been pushed back by another six weeks at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne, Australia.
The Princess Theatre made the announcement on June 9. All performances originally scheduled for July 1, 2020, to August 9, 2020, will be rescheduled. Ticket holders will automatically be moved to a date in January 2021, with the original seating being honored.
Guests will receive details of the newly rescheduled date, and arrangements will be made for those who are unable to attend the postponement date. The producers of Cursed Child are feeling encouraged by the gradual lifting of restrictions in Australia but closely monitoring government advice on the pandemic and will continue the rolling suspensions on the most up-to-date advice. Michael Cassel, the executive producer, shared his thoughts:
We continue to be both humbled and heartened by the ongoing support of our audiences as we postpone performances due to COVID-19. The easing of restrictions across the community, including travel and in sport, is encouraging. I know I speak for the entire cast, crew and creative team when I say that we can’t wait to return to our home at the Princess Theatre. We continue to work with all stakeholders in navigating a path for our return and look forward to sharing the magic of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as soon as we are able.
With restrictions slowly being lifted around the globe, hopefully, this will be the last suspension from the Princess Theatre. Did you have tickets to the suspended performances? Let us know!
